Exploring the use of Biochemical and Sequencing Methods in Newborn Screening: Webinar 1- Overview of Current Sequencing Projects

This is the first webinar in the Exploring the Use of Biochemical and Sequencing Methods in the Newborn Screening Series. This three-part webinar series explores the current uses of sequencing and biochemical technologies in public health newborn screening programs, the advantages and limitations of each approach, future applications of these methods, and the implications of moving forward with sequencing in newborn screening. The first webinar provides an overview of the current projects using sequencing to screen for treatable disorders in the newborn period. 

Objectives:

• Describe current research and pilot activities around sequencing in healthy newborns
• Discuss the utility of sequencing in public health newborn screening programs
• Review the disorders screened and outcomes thus far from the GUARDIAN Study
